Citrus Blossoms Styled Shoot

3/11/19

Drops of Honey Designs

FEATURED IN COTTAGE HILL

With the citrus blossoms just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to relive one of our all time favorite styled shoots at the venue. Our very own Kim Rico, of Drops of Honey Designs was the creative mind behind this stunning gallery. We love how much thought and meaningful details that Kim incorporated into the design concept.

“The main inspiration for this shoot was the story of Bob and Ann’s story. I wanted the couple to roleplay a younger version of Bob and Ann when they first moved to the venue property and display their youthfulness and ‘young’ love they had for one another through playful moments as they ran through the citrus groves and begin their ‘forever’ on the same property that means so much to Bob”. – Kim

The citrus blossoms bloom in mid to late April and into the beginning of May. It is our favorite part of the spring season, not only because they are beautiful, but the sweet aroma that is leaves in the air. This shoot capitalized on the blooms, and used it to further tell the story of our venue as Bob’s family citrus farm.

“I also wanted to show off the beauty of the citrus blossoms to visually display the surrounding settings of the venue without having to bring in something so literal like an orange into the scene. The cake and table setting I wanted it to inspire those who appreciate refined details but also make the designs feel approachable and organic vs stuffy, which is why I chose to place the table in the middle of the orange groves and bring in the brownie bites around the cake trios”. – Kim

Our owner Bob lives just across the street from the venue with his wife, Ann. This shoot used his from yard for a few shots by the fountain with the olive trees, again to tell Bob’s story and tie all the details together.

“Some of the other elements that are included in the shoot like the olive oil and olive tree, the chicken etc. were to visually display the yearly tradition of bottling the olive oil Bob hosts with his family”. – Kim
